Organic Grass-fed Tallow

Tallow is high in the fat-soluble vitamins A,D,E,K. It is rich in the fatty acids that form the skin's lipid barrier which is used for protection and moisture retention. Tallow's composition is very similar to the sebum our skin makes, which allows it to readily absorb into the deeper layers of the skin where it can hydrate and nourish. Due to these properties, tallow has been used for centuries as the main ingredient in skin balms, moisturizers, and ointments.

 

Organic Jojoba Oil

Jojoba oil serves as the perfect complimentary oil to tallow due to its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. Studies have shown jojoba oil to be an excellent emollient agent, meaning it increases the softness and suppleness of skin without leaving it feeling oily or greasy. Jojoba oil also shares a similar composition to skin sebum, which allows it to easily absorb and seamlessly integrate into the skin.

 

Organic Castor Oil

Castor oil is an oil extracted from the Ricinus communis (castor bean) plant which originates in the southeastern Mediterranean Basin, East Africa, and India. Castor oil has a wide array of therapeutic and medicinal properties and has been used traditionally by ancient civilizations to treat skin inflammation, irritation, and detoxification. Castor beans have been found in Egyptian tombs dating back to 4000 BC, and it is even said that Cleopatra would use castor oil for her beauty treatments. This oil’s timeless popularity is no doubt due to its unique fatty acid composition, which makes it extremely stable and difficult to oxidize. Shea butter is a fat extracted from the nut of the African shea tree which grows naturally in the Savannah Desert.
